An even scarier threat is on its way to Australia.

NSW is now the first state in Australia to enact draconian ag-gag laws. Although the bill was noticed and fought in its early stages, the amendments put forward by Labor, the Greens, and the Animal Justice Party were rejected and the bill passed in its horrific entirety.

Under this new law, cunningly titled the 2015 Biosecurity Act, penalties for animal activists found trespassing include the potential to be fined up to one million dollars (US currency equivalent) and to spend up to three years in prison. Animal rights organizations can also have their offices searched and equipment seized at any time, without notice, and without a warrant. Outrageously, this can just be on a mere suspicion of “wrongdoing” which is, quite frankly, unscrupulous ..

“It smacks of fascism. Animal rights violations would not have come out had it not been for us going in there and discovering them…They want to nullify us but they won’t. They can’t. We will continue to fight for the rights of animals,” says Lynda Stoner, Chief Executive of Animal Liberation Australia.
