California Declawing Bill: Ways You Can Help Get It Passed

California Declawing Bill: Ways You Can Help Get It Passed

A landmark piece of legislation is working its way through the California State Legislature which could spare countless cats from undergoing the agonizing and unnecessary surgical procedure that involves the surgical removal of each of the cat's toes back to the first knuckle. AB 1230 would make California the first state to ban the cruel and painful declawing of cats, which leads to behavioral issues, often ending in surrender to kill shelters and death.

Here's how you can help ensure this bill becomes law:

1) Come to the hearing in Sacramento.

When: Tuesday, April 23, 9:30am
Where: Assembly Business and Professions Committee
State Capitol, Room 4202, Sacramento, California 95814

Be certain to check the California Legislature's official page a day or two before the hearing to make sure the hearing date hasn't changed.
