Join the Global March for Elephants and Rhinos!

Global March for Elephants and Rhinos (GMFER) is a March Against Extinction that demands world leaders take action to stop the poaching of elephants and rhinos and that they work to end the trade in ivory and rhino horn. You can participate regardless of where you live!

This year, the GMFER will manifest in myriad forms, with some events featuring invaluable voices representing indigenous peoples in Africa. If conservation in Africa is to succeed, inclusion of its indigenous people as full partners in the conversation about conservation is required.

Colonial and failing modalities of conservation must be skillfully and creatively disrupted and be replaced by those that conscientiously engage the local voice. The March hopes to shine a penetrating light on the rampant corruption, greed and collusion, exercised indiscriminately and arbitrarily by indifferent governments. These practices result in chronic and critical devaluation of both the human and the animal.  The March’s theme for global wildlife advocacy in 2017 and 2018 will be Justice for All and Justice for Earth (#Justice4All, #Justice4Earth).

To Participate Online and at Events Around the World:

Visit GMFER’s website or GMFER’s Facebook page.

In California:

We are co-sponsoring two of these special events in California, both featuring Amos Kipeen and Prince Harris. Amos and Prince are native Maasai from Kenya who advocate passionately for living sustainably with nature and wildlife, and they are founding members of Friends of Maasai Mara. Amos and Prince will discuss the difficulties, hopes, fears and joys of indigenous communities striving to find a voice and place in the global voice governing the fate and future of Africa's dwindling iconic wildlife as well as its disenfranchised human inhabitants.

Saturday, October 7 in Los Angeles: Join us for a discussion about wildlife and indigenous communities and conservation practices in Africa.

Sunday, October 15 in Berkeley: Join us for a conversation about conservation & animal liberation in Africa

IDA and GMFER ask that you join us in demanding responsibility, transparency and accountability of the world’s governments on behalf of justice and on behalf of the Earth.  We thank you for your compassion and interest - #GMFER #Justice4All #Justice4Earth!
