The war on elephants – waged by poachers, on behalf of people who purchase their tusks – continues to claim thousands of innocent lives every year. To save elephants from being killed for profit, it is vital to support every piece of legislation introduced to protect them, including Singapore’s newly proposed ivory ban.

A recent discovery in Cambodia revealed an incredible 1,026 tusks hidden away in a storage container originating from Mozambique – evidence of at least 513 murders, and countless family members who will carry the trauma of seeing their loved ones killed before their eyes for the rest of their lives.

In response to ongoing tragedies involving the killing of elephants and their precipitous descent towards extinction, many countries are taking action. Recently, the government of Singapore proposed a total ban on the domestic trade of ivory, which would make it illegal to buy, sell, or display elephant ivory.
