Horrifying Marin County Slaughterhouse Ban Update & How You Can Still Help!

Horrifying Marin County Slaughterhouse Ban Update & How You Can Still Help!

The development code amendments, including the slaughter amendments, are now complete and off to the Marin Board of Supervisors. Despite the best efforts of the anti-slaughter community to uphold the ban, some significant loopholes have sadly made it through, including: permits which allow small scale facilities to slaughter chickens, ducks, and turkeys, and an extended time period for mobile slaughter facilities to kill ALL animal species.

A number of Planning Commissioners have explicitly said that these proposed loopholes being presented to the Board of Supervisors are "just a start" and that they can always come back to "expand it" later. So this upcoming Board of Supervisors hearing will be critical!

Please clear your calendar and be there to speak on behalf of the community we all love: keep the ban on slaughter in Marin!
