Animal Advocate Spotlight: Bull Elephants Get Support from IDA Monthly Supporter!
Animal Advocate in the Spotlight for the Month of May!
In Defense of Animals supporter and elephant lover, Kiersten Cluster, currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Darryl, and their two rescue dogs, Fiona and Marty. They also have two human children as well. In addition to her career as an Early Childhood Special Education teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District, Kiersten co-founded Elephant Guardians of Los Angeles in 2016.
Kiersten tells us about her wonderful organization:
“In January 2016, I co-founded Elephant Guardians of Los Angeles with my fellow public school teacher, Marcy Winograd. We advocate for the release of Billy the elephant from the Los Angeles Zoo to sanctuary. A motion was recently introduced to the Los Angeles City Council by Councilmember Paul Koretz calling for Billy's release."
In Defense of Animals has long advocated for the release of Billy, Tina and Jewel from Los Angeles Zoo and fully supports Kiersten’s efforts to release Billy and her dedication to freedom and dignity for all non-human animals.
Kiersten holds a B.A. in English from U.C. Riverside, a J.D. from the U.C.L.A. School of Law, and a teaching credential and M.A. in Early Childhood Special Education from California State University, Northridge.
We are honored to have Kiersten on our team of Animal Advocates. Her compassion is so inspiring and makes the work we do possible. Thank you, Kiersten!
