Do you want to learn about animals and some of the best ways to help them? All summer long, we will be releasing new lessons and activities so you can become a guardian for animals everywhere!

To kick off this exciting new campaign, we want to hear from you! Use your talents to let us (and the world) know how YOU make a difference for animals!

Contest: 

Do you love to write, tell stories, sing, or draw? Share with us how you actively take a stand for animals by creating an original essay, story, song OR drawing to address one or more of the topics below. Don’t forget to share images and/or a video of your work on Instagram and tag us @ida_international! Please post to your Instagram feed (no stories, please!), so we have a chance to see your fantastic work, and include your first name in your post. Open internationally. One entry per person, please.

If you do not have an Instagram account or if you’d prefer to email your submission, please send a PDF of your work or MP4 video file to julie@idausa.org. 

Here are some ideas to get you started on your essay, story, song, or drawing: 

• What can you do to stop animal cruelty?
• How can you help others adopt a vegan lifestyle?
• Why do you choose not to wear fur?
• What are the most rewarding and most challenging aspects of being an animal activist?
• Why do you choose not to hunt animals?
• Can you love animals and still eat them?
• Who inspires you to defend animals and why?
• Explain the importance of the quote, “Adopt, Don’t Shop.”
• Why is using animals for dissection unnecessary in schools?
• Nominate a zoo or aquarium for the next 10 Worst List and tell us why it deserves a spot on the list.

Rules: 

This contest is open to K-12 students (feel free to help young children with their submissions!). All entries must be received by July 17, 2020 at 5 p.m. PT. By tagging us in or emailing your submission, you are granting In Defense of Animals permission to share your work, first name, and/or Instagram account on our website, newsletter, and/or social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Featuring submissions on the platforms listed above is dependent on the number of entries and is not guaranteed. First and second prize winners must supply a valid email address to receive digital copies of VegNews.
