Prevent Animals from Suffering and Dying in Hot Cars!

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

During warmer months there are news stories almost every day about a dog, other animal, or even a child somehow overlooked or knowingly left in a parked car who was either rescued in the nick of time or, sadly, who died from heat-related injuries. These are tragic, preventable incidents. Thankfully, new legislation making its way through Congress aims to protect children, dogs, and other animals by helping to stop incidents like these from ever happening in the first place. Please contact your representative and ask for support of this bill to protect children and animals through the co-sponsoring of the Hot Cars Act of 2019 (H.R. 3593).

Every year, hundreds of dogs, other animals, and human children needlessly suffer and many die after being left in parked vehicles. Even on a mild 75 degree day, the interior of a car can heat up to over 100 degrees in less than 20 minutes. The Hot Cars Act of 2019 (H.R. 3593) will require automakers to install warning systems in new vehicles that alert drivers when an occupant remains in the backseat after the vehicle is turned off — a warning that could prevent extreme suffering and even save a child or an animal’s life.

Please ask your representative to co-sponsor the Hot Cars Act of 2019 (H.R. 3593) which mandates that automakers install warning systems to protect voiceless passengers from the dangers of being left in a hot car.
