One of These Abandoned By the Road Kittens Had a Serious Injury

When a young girl saw two tiny kittens on the side of a busy highway, she did not pass them by as so many people had already done.  She stopped and quickly placed them in the safety of her car before taking them to her home.

Once home, she gave the hungry babies food.  After they ate, she noticed one of the kittens had an injury to his front leg.  Knowing the kitten needed help, she reached out to Sharon Stone who is the Operations Manager for In Defense of Animals'  Hope Animal Sanctuary and she immediately agreed to help.

Our veterinarian, Dr. Daniel Hill, examined the injured kitten and found that his right front leg had a severe injury.  Part of the leg between the elbow and the foot was missing and the wound was horribly infected.  He started the kitten, now named, Blue on antibiotics in preparation for the surgery he needed.  The kitten’s leg was so damaged that it had to be removed at the shoulder.

24 hours after the surgery, Blue was playing and walking around!  Blue is being fostered by one of Dr. Hill’s employees and only two weeks after his surgery, he is playing and happy as all kittens are.

Our rescue partner, Animal Rescue Front, knew the perfect family for Blue and on June 1, 2017 Blue will make the trip where his new family is anxiously waiting his arrival.  Blue’s sister, Anna will also be going to her new family the same day!

Your donations to In Defense of Animals will help us save more precious kittens just like Blue.
