A number of innocent rabbits including Kali, Meesha, and Cheeto were rescued from neglect and abuse in Wisconsin, only to be brutally killed by their adopter. Urge maximum penalties in this case!

On August 9, 2023, the Portage Police Department was asked to do a welfare check on Donald Klawes who had adopted a number of rabbits from several rescues who were alleged to have been killed.

While there, officers didn't find a single live rabbit, but they did find multiple shallow graves in the backyard, and a number of decomposing bodies were recovered. According to a press release from the department, further investigation led to the discovery that “multiple rabbits had been killed through inhumane, brutal, and sadistic means.”

Klawes was arrested and charged with multiple counts of felony animal cruelty. During a court appearance on August 11, his bond was set to $500, with stipulations that he cannot have firearms or care for any animals. His guns, ammunition, and knives were turned over to police by his roommate. He's due back in court on September 1 for a pre-trial and again on September 26.

Klawes, meanwhile, claimed voices told him to kill the rabbits, and he alluded to detectives that the voices also tell him to “make people suffer.” Is this someone who belongs among other unsuspecting beings?
