Dozens of animals have been betrayed in one of the cruelest ways possible by someone claiming to be a rescuer in Arkansas... and at least five dogs paid the ultimate price with their lives. Animal abusers should face the toughest penalties the law will allow, but this particular one has been offered an undeserved sweet deal that might let her get away with a slap on the wrist. Don’t let this animal abuser walk free!

When animal control officer Lori Widder visited “Deepwoods Rescue” on Rachel Parrish’s property in mid-December 2019, she was confronted by the stench of urine, feces, and trash. Officer Widder found multiple starving and dehydrated animals at the so-called “rescue.”

She contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and went back with a deputy the next day.

The remains of three dogs were discovered in a pile of leaves that someone had started to burn, and it was also learned that Parrish had taken a Boxer and a Siberian Husky to a veterinarian earlier that month. Sadly, even though they received emergency veterinary care, they did not survive the prolonged neglect they suffered and ultimately died of dehydration.

Tragically, there were also four children, including a pregnant 15-year-old girl, living in Parrish’s filth-laden home.

The Animal League of Washington County made room for 34 dogs, eight cats, and two other animals who were removed from Parrish’s property.

Parrish, who was supposed to be caring for these animals, was arrested on three counts of aggravated animal cruelty, 20 counts of cruelty to animals, and theft of property. Her husband, Travis, was also arrested on arms charges. Parrish made her $1,500 bond the day after her arrest and was released. She made her first court appearance on January 24th, and is scheduled in court again on May 15th.

Shockingly, the prosecuting attorney, Denis Dean, has offered Parrish a deal because she has no prior felonies. The deal includes several years of felony supervision, restitution and community service — but no jail time. It’s suspected that she has no priors only because she hasn’t been caught and that this deal is being made to avoid having to deal with a trial.
