Get Justice for Dog Shot To Death by Neighbor

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

A family in Sunflower County, Mississippi, tragically lost their dog after their neighbor took him into her yard and shot him multiple times. Urge the assistant district attorney on this case to prosecute this case to the fullest.

Without any attempt to hide what she was doing, Sarah James went into Greg Purdy's yard where both his and his daughter's dogs were kept and took his dog, Cain. She walked him back into her yard and shot him once, dragged him to the back of her property, and fatally shot him again.

Other neighbors who witnessed this callous act came forward to report what they'd seen. One contacted our Justice for Animals Senior Campaigner Doll Stanley for help. Though a deputy had responded to the report, the neighbors were concerned that nothing would be done.

In Defense of Animals

Stanley met with investigator Darrel Saxton, who charged James with aggravated cruelty and sent the case to a grand jury where she was indicted.

While James did everything she could to intimidate witnesses, including asking one to say Cain tried to attack her grandson, the investigator assured witnesses that she would be prosecuted.
