A Texas man has been charged with animal cruelty after brutally killing his wife's teacup Pomeranian during a fight. Urge maximum penalties in this case!
On June 28, 2024, law enforcement officers responded to a veterinary clinic that had reported an injured animal. An investigation led to the arrest of Pengfei Ji, who is alleged to have killed the dog during an argument, claiming his wife loved the dog more than him.
According to the Fort Bend County Precinct 1 Constable's Office, “Video showed the suspect grabbing the dog by the rear legs and swinging the dog over his head, slamming the dog into a dog house several times and then discarding the animal into the yard. The dog was pronounced dead at the veterinarian's office.”
Ji was taken into custody and charged with third-degree felony cruelty to animals and booked at the Fort Bend County Jail.
Letter to Decision Maker(s) for reference:
Subject: Seek Maximum Prosecution for Man Who Killed Wife’s Beloved Pomeranian
I am writing in support of the vigorous prosecution of Pengfei Ji, who was arrested for brutally killing his wife’s beloved teacup Pomeranian during an argument.
Ji was charged with felony cruelty to a non-livestock animal. If he has not been charged with domestic violence and terrorizing his wife he must be. Acts of violence during domestic feuds must be addressed with the highest penalties under Texas law. Domestic violence is a national crisis that traumatizes its victims and too often involves injury or death that might be thwarted if abusers knew the consequences of their violence would not be a slap on the hand. Too many victims of domestic violence are trapped in unsafe situations because they fear for the safety of their animal companions.
I will be following this case to its fruition and expect Ji to receive mental health evaluation and treatment in addition to fines, lengthy incarceration, and a lifetime ban on being around animals.
Thank you for your consideration of this important matter.
Sincerely,
Signed
