Get Justice for a Puppy Left to Die of Heatstroke in a Wire Crate

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

A five-month-old puppy who was left in a metal crate in the hot sun in Texas this summer died in absolute agony while her cries for help were ignored by the person responsible for her as she slowly cooked to death. Urge the district attorney to seek the maximum penalties for this disgraceful act of animal cruelty.

In July 2022, the Groves Police Department assisted animal control on a cruelty call that led them to the stiff body of a puppy who had died in a wire crate after being left on a sweltering driveway in direct sunlight without food or water. According to police, it was 94 degrees that day with a heat advisory in effect; the heat index was between 108 and 112 degrees when the call for help came in.

In Defense of Animals
Imagine being left outside on a sweltering driveway in direct sunlight in these sorts of temperatures with a severe heat advisory in effect.

Video of the puppy's last moments was sent to Animal Victory by neighbor Heather Gay, who stated, “My 10-year-old stepson took a video of the puppy screaming, rolling on her back at 2:45, and I got there at 3:11, and the puppy was stiff as a board and passed away. He didn't know to call the cops and was too scared to go over there and do something since they've had a previous confrontation with those neighbors.”

WARNING! This video is graphic and very difficult to watch. It was filmed by a traumatized child unable to intervene.

When police questioned the homeowner, Michelle Bradford, she feigned ignorance and denied knowing the puppy was outside. While no arrest was made at the time, police began an investigation and she later changed her story and confessed that the puppy had been dropped off with her grandson and she “forgot” he was outside.

In September, she was arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty and is facing from two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
