LOS ANGELES (April 5, 2019) – The Golden Rule is a guiding principle for many of the world’s religions, encouraging people to treat others and the planet as you would like to be treated. Golden Rule Day is a celebration of that rule held each year on April 5th. This year the organizers have teamed up with In Defense of Animals to include compassion for animals as a main theme of the annual celebration.
On Friday, the Golden Rule Day webcast will stream globally for 24 hours and feature meditations, inspirational speakers, songs, dances, and stories about how people worldwide practice the Golden Rule.
An In Defense of Animals video panel will air as part of the Golden Rule Day webcast. Activists from different religious backgrounds discuss how to put the Golden Rule into action, and how vegan living provides an accessible way to practice compassion for animals, people, and the planet.
The Golden Rule Day tips are given by key members of the Interfaith Vegan Coalition including Jewish Veg, Embody Love, and Climate Healers.
Marilyn Kroplick, M.D., president of In Defense of Animals encourages everyone to watch the Golden Rule Day webcast.
“At a time when headlines are often full of conflict and mistrust, Golden Rule Day highlights this common concept which shines a spotlight on kindness and compassion,” said Kroplick. “The Golden Rule reminds people of all backgrounds what all beings have in common - a desire to be treated with respect. Please tune into the Golden Rule Day webcast on Friday, April 5 to reflect upon and celebrate this powerful relationship tool to improve how we treat others, animals, the planet, and ourselves.”
The Golden Rule Day webcast will stream live on Friday, April 5 at www.GoldenRuleDay.org. Share contributions using the hashtag #GoldenRuleDay.
