Nurture Your Empathy

Nurture Your Empathy

You know the feeling - a nagging sensation that there is always more to do to help animals. Every minute counts when they are suffering. As activists, it’s essential to recognize our personal needs as well, and that means setting healthy boundaries, and practicing self-care. Since we’re subject to compassion fatigue, taking care of ourselves can determine whether or not we can continue to help animals for the long hall.

Read this insightful article on the emotional toll of animal care, rescue and rehab.

We also highly recommend author and animal behaviorist Marc Bekoff’s review of the same article.

Share your feelings and receive support from fellow activists at our next Animal Activist Online Support Group on Thursday, March 23, 5:00 p.m. – 6 p.m. PDT (8:00 p.m. – 9 p.m. EDT) hosted by Sustainable Activism Campaign Director Lisa Levinson. You can join this live webinar via phone or online. For an optimal experience, please login to the meeting from the Chrome browser.
