SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (December 2, 2017) – In Defense of Animals and Otra Mas Horse Rescue and Equine Therapy Center are honored to present a Memorial Ceremony for animal victims of the deadly fire that ravaged Orange County in October. The ceremony will be held at Otra Mas in San Juan Capistrano, where horses received shelter and medical care during the fire.

When: Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

"Our goal is to provide a forum for the community to process their feelings and heal their grief from the incredible losses they suffered as a result of the fires,” says board-certified psychiatrist and In Defense of Animals President, Marilyn Kroplick, M.D. “This ceremony will help us all rise from the ashes of despair, bless those who have passed, and heal the ravaged land we and the animals depend on.”

Firefighters, dignitaries, and animal rescue organizations will share heartfelt stories about domestic and wild animal victims of the fire. Animals are very welcome to attend.

Participants are encouraged to bring photos and mementos of those who passed for a communal blessing officiated by local clergy. During the ceremony, participants are invited to share stories and process their grief for the wild and domestic animals who lost their lives in the blaze.
