URGENT: Stop the Senate from Mandating Deadly Cosmetics Testing on Animals!

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

A disastrous provision has recently been introduced in the US Senate which would sentence animals in laboratories to pain and suffering for cosmetics... forever. We must keep animal protection laws moving in the right direction. Please contact your senators and urge them to oppose this backward legislation!

The ironically named Food and Drug Administration Safety and Landmark Advancements Act (FDASLA Act of 2022), includes a disastrous provision that would not advance things at all, in fact, it would undo and prevent state laws that ban the sale of animal-tested cosmetics. The work of dedicated activists and legislators has led to the enactment of these bans in eight states, including California, Nevada, Illinois, Virginia, Maryland, Maine, Hawaii, and New Jersey. If passed, Sec. 614 of the FDASLA Act of 2022 would invalidate these bans, once again allowing the sale of cosmetics that have been tested on animals. Worse still, it will prevent states from passing bans in the future.

Terrified mice, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other animals suffer immensely in laboratories to produce cosmetics. Chemicals are dropped into their eyes, and rubbed into their shaved skin, causing agonizing pain. They are forced to ingest and inhale chemicals, potentially leading to the development of illness, injury, and death. There are thousands of ingredients that have been proven safe for human use and require no further testing. While many cosmetics manufacturers have opted to eliminate cruel and unnecessary testing on animals, many needlessly continue this outdated and ineffective practice.
