Valid Wisconsin address required to submit.
Animal testing for cosmetics is cruel, outdated, and unnecessary, but a new bill could make Wisconsin the 13th state to take a stand against it.
The Wisconsin Humane Cosmetics Act (LRB-6568) would ban the manufacture, import, and sale of cosmetics tested on animals in the state. Urge lawmakers to pass this important bill!
We may never know how many animals have needlessly suffered and died behind closed doors for the development of new products because the Animal Welfare Act doesn't require all lab animal use to be reported, but the numbers are estimated to be in the millions.
While lawmakers have been trying to pass a federal ban on this practice, a number of states have acted to stop it, which will do more than save countless animals from suffering in painful tests; it will also encourage the development and validation of alternatives that are more reliable. Hundreds of companies have already proven that products can be made without harming animals, which has helped them stay competitive in a global marketplace that continues to mandate cruelty-free alternatives.
