Victory: Southbridge Geese Spared from Summer Roundup

Victory: Southbridge Geese Spared from Summer Roundup

Thanks in large part to your letters and phone calls, the Southbridge HOA board has decided to spare Canada geese and goslings from mobile gas chambers this summer. Our efforts to raise awareness about the plight of local and national geese are saving their lives!

Even though this battle has been won, we still need your help to win the war! The HOA plans to record the number of geese, report any goose-related “damage,” and implement water quality testing while incorporating nonlethal methods. The resulting data will determine the future of Southbridge’s geese in 2022.

Following the HOA-approved roundup and killing of 144 geese and goslings last year, this decision is no small victory, saving the lives of 33 remaining geese who inhabit the subdivision. Thanks to everyone who signed and shared our alert, these lucky 33 geese and goslings will enjoy a thriving summer at Southbridge and live to see another glorious year.

If resident Canada geese are in danger in your community, please contact our National Goose Protection Coalition for help at geese@idausa.org. You can access our online resources at www.stopgooseabuse.org.
