Head Off Wild Equine Killers at the Pass: Call Now!

Head Off Wild Equine Killers at the Pass: Call Now!

On September 6, the House Rules Committee blocked an amendment to stop the mass murder of America's wild horses and burros. This cowardly, undemocratic action shows just what we're up against. The House Rules Committee action was a blow, but it didn't defeat us. Now the fight goes to the Senate Appropriations Committee. Horses and burros desperately need you to take action now on their behalf!

The current version of the Senate's 2018 budget for Interior maintains federal protections for wild horses and burros. Your calls and messages have made an impact! However, the Administration's sinister plan to destroy tens of thousands of mustangs and captive burros isn't dead yet and its proponents may well try to reinsert their language during consideration in committee next week — or when both chambers of Congress later meet to resolve differences.

Please make two phone calls to let Congress know we won't stand for seeing wild equines being destroyed because of special interest pressures. Find your two US Senators' numbers here: http://www.idausa.org/findmyrep

State your name, your town or city, and your telephone number. Please be respectful. You may wish to say:

Please oppose any language or provision in the 2018 budget that would allow wild horses and burros to be destroyed either directly or indirectly by sales without limitation or euthanasia of healthy animals. The BLM needs to conduct on-the-range management that is humane and sustainable. I don't want taxpayer monies used to exterminate these animals.

If you haven't already done so, please send our letter (with your personal touch) to Congress.

Despite the action by the House Rules Committee that blocked the amendment to stop the mass killing of America's wild horses and burros, we wish to thank all who fought so hard to pass it. Thanks go to Rep. Dina Titus (NV) who introduced the amendment; to Rep. Jared Polis (CO) who kept pressing as the horse-haters tried to bury it; to Reps. Peter King (NY) and Carlos Curbelo (FL) for bringing Republican backing to the amendment; and to Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM) and Alcee Hastings (TX) for standing strong for the wild equines.
