We previously alerted you to a diabolical “plan” concocted by US Representative Chris Stewart of Utah that will spell eventual doom for all wild horses and burros on public lands. Lobbyists who stand against horses are winning, and the plan is making steady progress through Congress. We must speak up now to stop this vile plan or we will likely be facing the largest slaughter of mustangs in history. 

On July 16, 2019, the U.S. Senate’s Subcommittee on Public Lands, Forest and Mining held a hearing stacked with “witnesses” who kowtow to the livestock industry and other special interests against wild horses and burros. Congress is succumbing to the concerted effort of these lobbyists in a premeditated travesty of justice. 

The latest setback for wild horses and burros was a July 16 Senate subcommittee hearing which openly supported Representative Stewart’s (R-UT) deadly and disastrous yet benignly named plan: A Path Forward for Management of BLM’s Wild Horses and Burros. Don’t be deceived! A truly accurate name would be Path For War Declared on Wild Horses and Burros. The hearing was all part of a carefully orchestrated, continuing strategy to convince Congress of its necessity. 

The Humane Society of the Unites States, American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and Return to Freedom have signed onto this appalling plan because it would prevent outright killings as a method to reduce mustang numbers; however, in reality the plan makes slaughter way more likely in the future.
