Once again, the enemies of wild horses and burros are looking for new ways to rid America’s western ranges of their free-roaming herds, this time brandishing torturous sterilization devices in one hand, and cash-for-kill buyers in the other. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has unveiled dreadful plans that put tens of thousands of wild horses and burros in grave danger; they need your urgent help right now!   

The BLM is “analyzing” killing plans for healthy horses and burros, while planning one of the worst sterilization programs we’ve ever seen. 

The proposed sterilization method is an archaic, unsafe procedure that tears out the ovaries of wild mares and burro jennets, putting them at high risk of death by evisceration or internal infection. 

This vile plan has been set in motion by the House Interior Appropriations Subcommittee, a powerful government body responsible for setting state level spending. In addition to the sickening procedure above, the Committee also recommends paying “adopters” $1000 to take captive equines, effectively incentivizing kill buyers to put them into the slaughter pipeline.

We are doing everything in our power to fight for wild horses and burros and to offer practical solutions including the use of safe, reversible fertility control.
