America’s wild horses and burros are currently under their greatest threat since the bi-partisan 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act was unanimously passed by Congress. The Appropriations Committees of both the House and Senate have just passed bill language that will mean “the beginning of the end” for America’s wild horses and burros. We need every voice, right now, to stop this travesty! 

We previously alerted you to the egregious “plan” concocted by Representative Chris Stewart (R-UT) that essentially will spell eventual doom for wild horses and burros. Many of you responded; now we need you, and every person who cares about animals, to call again.

The wholesale betrayal of wild horses and burros by The Humane Society of the United States, American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and Return to Freedom by signing onto this devastating plan is what allowed it to pass through Congressional committees in the first place. These animal welfare organizations brag that “they” have achieved victory with this appalling plan because it seemingly would prevent “euthanasia,” however, in reality, it is a poorly disguised path to eventual wholesale slaughter. 

The Bureau of Land Management Wild Horse and Burro National Advisory Board will be meeting in Washington, DC October 29-31. At this time, Board Members and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) honchos plan on using lobbying efforts to convince Congressional legislators to finalize Appropriations bill language that would allow for massive roundups, barbaric surgical sterilizations, and other schemes that will lead to extinction for these iconic living and breathing symbols of American heritage.
