Southern California: Come to the Compassion Barn Blessing & Celebration in Chatsworth Hills!

Southern California: Come to the Compassion Barn Blessing & Celebration in Chatsworth Hills!

We’re thrilled to invite you to a momentous celebration in the Los Angeles area! With contributions from generous In Defense of Animals supporters like you, we helped to fund the building and installation of Compassion Barn at Kindred Spirits Care Farm, an animal sanctuary in Chatsworth Hills. This landmark project now serves as a model for coexistence in the region!

Compassion Barn will defend Los Angeles cougars, protect rescued animals, and serve as a beacon for peaceful coexistence with native predators for other places that house domestic animals in cougar habitat.

Join us for a Barn Blessing to celebrate this conservation milestone!

Cougars in the Santa Monica Mountains were already threatened with extinction. Over the past 20 years, almost 100 cougars on average were legally killed per year on depredation permits across California.

We arranged a “pre-conflict” visit between Kindred Spirits Care Farm and the Cougar Conservancy, which specializes in reducing human-wildlife conflicts through science-based management and conservation. The result was our creative solution to build a large barn to fully house Kindred Spirits’ animal residents at night.

With the building of Compassion Barn, Kindred Spirits Care Farm will showcase a humane alternative to depredation permits and save more animal lives. Please celebrate with us by attending our Barn Blessing!
