Thank Legislators for Passing Animal Protection Laws in California!

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

Thanks to the calls and emails from our California supporters over the past several months, many important animal protection bills have been signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. This legislation will reduce the suffering and improve the lives of countless animals in California and beyond. Ensure these legislators get the thanks they deserve so that they are encouraged to save even more animals next year!

The recently signed bills include the first-ever statewide ban on the sale and manufacture of new animal fur products. Commercial and recreational fur trapping is also prohibited. Using wild animals in circuses and bobcat hunting is banned. The protection of migratory birds has been solidified, and anti-horse slaughter laws have been strengthened to make it more difficult for kill buyers to make profits. The trade of body parts (skins) of threatened species, including caimans and hippos, will now be prohibited. Please join us in thanking Governor Newsom for approving these groundbreaking bills, and their lead sponsors whose dedication and leadership got them through the state legislature to his desk.

These tremendous victories are cause for celebration, yet there is more work to be done. Countless animals continue to endure horrendous abuse and die painful deaths throughout our state with little to no legal protection. With your support, we will continue our efforts to help pass many more laws to secure a happy and peaceful future for our furry, feathered, and finned friends.
