URGENT! Stop the Proposed Slaughter of Endangered Gray Wolves

URGENT! Stop the Proposed Slaughter of Endangered Gray Wolves

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

The few gray wolves scattered throughout the country are in jeopardy! The government plans to strip gray wolves of much-needed protections under the Endangered Species Act, therefore opening the door for wolves to face extinction once again. Please act now to urge the federal government to protect gray wolves!

For over 40 years, gray wolves have been protected under the Endangered Species Act to help populations recover from wide-scale hunting and trapping throughout the country. Since adding gray wolves to the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife in 1974, recovery efforts have been promising in some regions; however, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is now working to delist gray wolves throughout the lower 48 states.

This disastrous decision to return wolf “management” to individual states that favor hunters and the livestock industry could potentially undo over four decades of conservation efforts, which would once again threaten the survival of gray wolves.

In 2011, the Department of the Interior removed protections for all Northern Rocky Mountain gray wolves in Idaho and Montana, followed by Wyoming in 2012. In 2014, Wyoming's wolves were re-listed only to lose protection again in 2017.
