This Dog Needed Help and He Got It!

Sharon Stone, Operations Manager of IDA’s Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada, Mississippi received a call from the Animal Control Officer (ACO) in a nearby town asking for help with a two year old chocolate lab, picked up as a stray who had been attacked by another dog. The ACO reported that the lab had “pretty bad lacerations” on his head and neck.

When Sharon arrived, she was shocked at the condition of this sweet, calm dog. He had three very deep wounds where the other dog had literally ripped out chunks of hair, skin and muscle and the wounds were infected. She knew he had to be in a tremendous amount of pain, but she was amazed at how he endured the examination without a whimper and with his tail wagging! She named him Matt and rushed him to the vet for treatment. He is being given antibiotics and hydrotherapy. Although he has a long recovery ahead of him, we are committed to helping Matt regain his health and a loving guardian.
