Goldie is Home at Last!

Goldie is Home at Last!

On a cold day in February of 2016, in Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary staff responded to a call about a dog in need.  We arrived at the scene and found a very thin girl who clearly had been on her own for some time.  We found her ravenous and with her hair wet , muddy, and matted.

We named her Goldie, and transported her to Hope Animal Sanctuary where she was given a warm bath and then tested for heartworm disease.  As so many dogs do, Goldie tested positive for the deadly disease.  On the advice of our veterinarian, Goldie remained at the sanctuary until her weight was in the normal range for a dog her size.  Once she gained enough weight, she was given antibiotics. Finally in May of 2016, she received the heartworm treatment she needed to allow her to live a long, happy life.

In mid-July Goldie found her forever family!

The family has this to say about her:  “We are so thankful you saved her.  You are Angels!!  From the moment she saw us she knew we were her family. It has been a seamless transition for her. Her tail hasn’t stopped wagging and she likes to give lots of hugs and kisses…and so do we!  We are forever grateful “

Your donation will help us provide lifesaving treatment for other dogs, just like Goldie.
