Industrial Fish Farms: Cruel and Toxic to All Involved

National and Local Groups Strongly Oppose Industrial Fish Farms in U.S. WatersDespite strong opposition from consumer, environmental, and sustainable fishing and farming organizations, new federal regulations permit the development of industrial fish farms offshore in U.S. waters allowing 64 MILLION pounds of aquatic animals to be raised and slaughtered each year in the Gulf of Mexico.

The cages used to contain fish are flow-through, meaning anything from inside; excess feed, fish wastes, and any chemicals; will go directly into Gulf waters. Similar set ups in Chile, Scotland, and Canada have also caused serious viral outbreaks.

“Just like factory farms on land, industrial offshore fish farms risk the health and welfare of communities, the environment and wildlife…This plan to allow a private industry to abuse our public resources must stop now.” – Wenonah Hauter, Executive Director of Food & Water Watch.

Regardless of where they are located, intensive farms raise animals in disgustingly cruel, unclean and unhealthy conditions.

Vote with your wallet and withdraw your support of all intensive animal farming which hurts our planet, sentient animals and our health.
