Hemsworth here! Well, my story isn’t new - not really, as it happens all the time to other dogs and cats. I was abandoned, but for me it was a new experience, and one I’ll never really get over. My rescue was a miracle.

One of In Defense of Animals' team members took a day off to work on a hoarding case with a friend, and to check on a horse a few counties further north. They set their traps for the feral cats, as they weren’t able to coax the cats out to be spayed and neutered, then drove to check on the horse, and then responded to the call they’d gotten about a little dog who’d been abandoned in the middle of nowhere.

But, I just couldn’t let them touch me.  I just couldn’t.

When they drove away, my little heart sank. I was sure I’d blown the only chance I’d get at being rescued, but I was wrong.  Late in the night, the rescuers returned.  As they set a trap for me, I heard them saying I was worth driving 200 miles for, and that when they caught me, they would name me Hemsworth, “Because him’s worth it.”

That’s my story, and it is so similar to the story of thousands of animals that our team members have rescued. From the bottom of my little happily beating heart, I thank you.
