As it applies to charitable giving, many people who no longer itemized their deductions ended up losing the benefit of a tax write off for any charitable donations. However,  with the passage of the CARES Act, even if you don’t itemize, you can still get up to $300 off as a deduction from your return without itemizing, just for giving up to $300 to help animals.
