World's First Ever Vegan-Themed Racecar Debuting This February

This February 18, Leilani Münter will be driving the first vegan-powered racecar at the ARCA race in Daytona, Florida —the most historic racetrack in America (which will be live broadcast on Fox Sports 1).

But slam on the breaks. (It gets even better.) In partnership with A Well Fed World, Leilani plans to debut her racecar inside a large display tent with free vegan food and veg starter guides.

In an interview with One Green Planet, Leilani revealed that she was inspired to set up a food giveaway after her tire carrier sent her a text asking he where he could buy some vegan chicken wings after she shared some with him and the team. He was keen to buy some to take on a camping trip!

"... and that was when I knew getting people to taste the food was key to growing this movement. I want to do that same experiment but on the scale of 100,000 race fans at Daytona Speedweeks."

Leilani is determined to break veganism into the mainstream.

“A lot of environmentalists write off NASCAR, thinking these fans obviously don’t care,” she says.

“But there are 75 million racing fans — you can’t write off practically a third of the U.S. population. You can’t just preach to the choir. You have to talk to the people who don’t believe in the same things you do.”

Setting an incredible example of animal and environmental advocacy in an unlikely space, she does not work with companies that produce fossil fuels, meat or dairy products, fur or leather, or any companies that test on animals.
