We are delighted to share some wonderful news with you. We recently acquired a ranch in Creston, California, called Freedom Farms, and rescued 15 cows! We are overjoyed to welcome these warm and soulful individuals into our care. And we have some exciting plans for this unique and enchanting place.

Thanks to caring people like you, these cows will never face the unimaginable cruelty of the agricultural system. It brings us great pleasure to be able to provide them with a new life where they will be cherished and protected forever. 

Like you, we believe that every animal deserves a life free from harm, and we are committed to making that a reality for these deserving cows. 

But we cannot do this alone. There are two big problems: 

1. There is not enough grass for the cows. Eventually, we hope to grow hay on the farm, but right now we must pay for it. Each day the hay costs $160. They eat a lot!
2. There is no shelter for the cows. The property is in central California which was recently flooded, and they were in the cold, wet weather for days.

We are asking you, as a generous supporter of In Defense of Animals, to help reach our goal of raising $70,000. 

This will allow us to build a cowshed to keep these cows safe and secure, provide them with medical care, food, and shelter, and be a place for them to live their natural lives free from harm. 

We don’t need to tell you that California is getting hit hard by the climate crisis. Now that these cows are in our care, we must do everything in our power to keep them safe, happy, and healthy. 

Whether it’s disastrous flooding or extreme heat… we must be ready for what’s next.

This is a dream come true for us and would have been fully supported by our founder, Dr. Elliot Katz, who recently passed away.

Dr. Katz was a visionary in the animal rights movement. He founded In Defense of Animals in 1983 with the mission of protecting the rights, welfare, and habitats of animals. He was passionate about advocating for animals and inspiring others to do the same. He believed that every animal deserves to live free from harm and exploitation.

By supporting the In Defense of Animals cows, you will be joining us in celebrating the memory of Dr. Katz and his legacy of advocating for animals. You will be supporting a cause that he held dear and one that you and we hold dear as well. 

We are thrilled to embark on this new journey with you and to welcome these cows into our lives. We know that they will bring us, you, and so many others much joy. We cannot wait to share that joy with you. 

Once we have their basic needs met, it is my wish to use any spare dollars to give them their first-ever toy — a giant cow brush!
