A starving mother dog and her six puppies were in the right place at the right time when they were spotted by a mail carrier in rural Mississippi, who contacted us for help. They had been abandoned to fend for themselves, but now they’re safe and starting entirely new lives.

After we were alerted about their plight, our team picked them up, brought them back to our Hope Animal Sanctuary, and named the mom Trixie.

Although Trixie had no food for herself, she was a wonderful mother and continued to feed her nursing six puppies.

Trixie had not had an easy life, and it was clear she had been bred many times, but she still had faith in humans and trusted us enough to allow us to take care of her puppies while she regained her strength. 

When the puppies were fully vaccinated, they were transported to new homes in the Northeast. Trixie stayed with us, gaining weight, and is being given lots of love and care. 

In a few weeks, Trixie will also be heading to the Northeast to begin her new life too.
