Stop Yulin Forever March
In honor of World Animal Day, over 1,500 activists and their companion animals marched in the streets of Los Angeles from MacArthur Park to the Chinese Consulate to stop the annual Dog Meat Eating Festival on the summer solstice in Yulin, China. Sister events occurred in the United Kingdom, Taiwan, and Canada. Lisa Vanderpump, from Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, initiated and led this effort after learning about the atrocities of the dog meat trade.
“These poor dogs in China are being latched from their homes – tortured, beaten and boiled alive. The images that I have seen have deeply affected my everyday life. Each day that passes that this heinous festival rages on, a part of me crumbles. Our four legged friends do not receive the credit that they deserve and I want to use whatever platform I have been blessed with to gain attention to the meat trade in China and STOP YULIN FOREVER.” ~ Actress Lisa Vanderpump
Linda Vanderpump was joined by her Stop Yulin Team, her fellow cast members of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, IDA President Marilyn Kroplick M.D., Duo Duo’s Andrea Gung, actress Jill Wagner, Katie Cleary of World Animal News and Peace 4 Animals, Angela Daun of Animal Empire, celebrity manager Joanne Horowitz, the Osbournes, and hundreds of activists chanting, “Stop Yulin Forever!’’ and “Dogs are Family not Food!” In Defense of Animals, Last Chance for Animals, American Humane International, and other organizations supported their efforts.
