3 Happy Puppies

These three happy puppies had no idea they were not wanted, and no idea that they were about to be dumped and left to fend for themselves. Tragically, this is exactly what happened!  In a scenario played out many times a week, these beautiful puppies were dumped in a rural area with no homes or salvation in sight.  And there they innocently waited for their uncaring human family to return.

When animals are dumped, they wait at the location for their guardians to return for them because they simply cannot imagine they will not return.  Their nature is such that for them to do that to one another is unthinkable, so they can’t foresee that humans can behave so abominably. They will wait for days until hunger and thirst drives them to search for food and water.  They watch every vehicle that passes and sometimes they will run after a vehicle, almost begging for help.

Fortunately for these three, a caring person was driving down that lonely road and saw them sitting on the ditch bank.  She stopped and they gleefully ran to her.  She said there was no way she could leave them there and then she called In Defense of Animals’ Hope Animal Sanctuary for help.  Our foster guardian, Carol Purnell, agreed to foster all three until they were ready for homes of their own.

We reached out to our rescue partner, Northwest Hills Animal Rescue, and  Laura Higgins, the director immediately agreed to take the pups and find them just the right homes.  Laura and her group do an amazing job of finding loving forever homes for so many unwanted dogs and puppies that pass through our doors.  These three lucky puppies will be heading north where Laura and her husband Michael Higgins will continue to foster them until the perfect families comes along.

It truly takes a village to save these wonderful animals and we are grateful that our village includes Northwest Hills Animal Rescue, and all our loyal donors.

If you can, please help by donating, so that we can continue to respond to calls for help with abandoned animals.
