Pair a Light, Fresh Salad with a Lighter Heart
With episode 5 of our Vegan Cooking and Food Psychology show, we’re getting close to halfway through our 12-step Carnivores Anonymous recovery program! This time around, we’ll be learning how to make a delicious Asian Raw Kale Salad with Red Pepper Dressing.
Dr. Marilyn, a psychiatrist, will help us understand better how to use the insights into ourselves we gained when we took step 4 after the last episode. After doing some soul-searching into our patterns and habits last month, we have a better understanding of why we do what we do. Following up on that, step 5 asks us to open up to other people about our struggles.
This step comes as a huge relief as we realize we are not alone and don’t need to feel shame about the difficulty we experience changing our relationship to food. There is a saying that, “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” Letting the light in, ceasing to hide the truth from others and ourselves, is an invaluable lesson to learn.
