Stepping Together into Wellness

Carnivores Anonymous met on June 12 in Berkeley, California where we shared the challenges and successes encountered on our journeys to healthier and more humane plant-based diets.

Carnivores Anonymous was developed by our very own In Defense of Animals’ president and psychiatrist Dr. Marilyn Kroplick, in the spirit of 12-Step programs like Overeaters Anonymous. Carnivores Anonymous helps those of us who want to either move towards or stick with a plant-based lifestyle. At our meetings, we explore strategies to overcome our barriers to making changes in our lives in a safe and judgement-free environment.

We have regular meetings in Los Angeles and Berkeley and are in the process of setting up other chapters. Please let us know if you’d like to volunteer to lead a meeting in your area.

This month, we especially enjoyed tips from people who have helped family members become excited about eating fewer animal products, such as slowly shifting the filling in tacos at the family dinner table from ground beef to sautéed mushrooms and zucchini.

Join us at our next meeting on July 10 at 6 pm, held at the Animal Rights Center at 2425 Channing Way, Berkeley, California
