12-Year-Old Boy Commits Shocking Act of Cruelty Against Family Cat

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

A 12-year-old boy in Clinton, Iowa is facing charges of animal torture and burglary after a homeowner discovered the pre-teen in his –backyard. The boy had been torturing the family’s cat, Pitty Pat. Cut and burned, Pitty Pat was rushed to the vet, but she died of her injuries. It is shocking that a boy of only 12 could be involved in such a horrifying act. We must act now to prevent him from doing something like this again in the future.

The boy was found after inadvertently honking the horn of a boat he was trespassing on. When the homeowner confronted the boy, the boy threatened him with a knife. While restraining the boy and waiting for police to arrive, the family made the gruesome discovery of their mortally wounded cat.

Studies have repeatedly shown, and the FBI and other law enforcement agencies agree, that a person who commits cruelty to animals very often moves on to commit acts of violence against people. It is very possible that this child is a victim of abuse who is acting out what he has seen happen to himself or others. Please help us ensure that the District Attorney gets immediate help for this boy and handles this case with the seriousness it deserves.
