Back in December, we asked our supporters to help us demand justice for an innocent deer who was viciously tortured and killed by a couple of young hunters in Pennsylvania. Thousands of you emailed and called Jefferson County Prosecutor, Jeffrey Burkett, and we are happy to share that Mr. Burkett listened!

The video of this horrific attack surfaced in late November and was immediately met with public outrage. The extremely disturbing footage showed Alexander Brock Smith, 18, and Cody Hetrick, 17, laughing as one of them kicked the wounded, but very much alive and conscious deer, repeatedly in the face. It's unbelievably cruel and hard to watch.

We are pleased to share the news that both Smith and Hetrick have been charged with felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty and conspiracy for the documented abuse of a defenseless deer.

Thank you for speaking out on behalf of this poor creature. Together, we can hope that justice is delivered to the two criminals responsible for this heinous crime, and they are made examples of to prevent similar crimes in the future.
