Victory for Community Cats in Hawaii!

In early May, we told you about a group of community cats at a resort in Hawaii who were in trouble. It was reported to us that regular feedings had been withdrawn, an important sterilization program was stopped, and possibly even a wildlife removal company had been hired to trap and kill the cats. You spoke up for the cats, and supported the brave efforts of local animal activists, and now things are looking up for the cats of Hawaii!

We reached out to you for help on behalf of these community cats and thousands of you contacted the property manager, Hilton Grand Vacations. You called on them not to kill the cats, but to respect and care for them by reinstating a trap-neuter-return program, and resuming daily feeding on which the cat families rely. We are pleased to report - they heard you!

Local cat rescue group Catsnip and a group of concerned residents in the area let us know that Hilton Grand Vacations is now working with Catsnip on a plan to maintain the colony through a closely-managed sterilization program and regular feedings of the cats!

On behalf of the community cats living at Hilton Grand Vacations’ property in Hawaii, thank you! Thank you for taking action and being the animals’ voice. Thank you for speaking up for them and encouraging this company to do the right thing. Thank you also to managers of Hilton Grand Vacations for their compassion and dedication to helping the cats who call their resort home.
