California: New Action Needed to Save Animals with Plant-Based School Lunches!

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

Every day countless animals suffer from extreme confinement, painful mutilations, and prolonged deaths in the factory farms and slaughterhouses which dot this nation’s landscape. Many of them spend months, or even years, confined to tiny metal cages where they are unable to turn around or fully stretch out their limbs. If only a small fraction of California’s public schools started to serve plant-based meals, millions of animals could be reprieved of this cruel and unnecessary torment.

California’s bill to incentivize public schools to serve plant-based lunches passed the Assembly and has now moved to the Senate. If instituted, this legislation could spare the lives of over 6 million animals per month! Please join us in urging the Senate Education Committee to vote “yes” on AB 479!

AB 479 will also improve the health of our state’s children. Decreased consumption of animal protein can assist with weight loss and reduce one’s chances of developing a host of chronic diseases including cancer and atherosclerosis (a buildup of plaque in our arteries which causes heart attacks and strokes).
