New Jersey Residents: Help Peter and Gerry Speak Up for Suffering Pigs!

New Jersey Residents: Help Peter and Gerry Speak Up for Suffering Pigs!

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

Gerry, a gorgeous pig from New Jersey and his compassionate guardian Peter are calling on New Jersey residents to make two crucial phone calls and click once to send a letter to almost a dozen legislators serving on two committees. Taking these quick actions could reduce the suffering of thousands of pigs every year!

Gerry was dumped at a pet store in New Jersey by someone who decided that he wasn’t a good “lifestyle fit” anymore! Luckily, he was rescued by Peter despite being very sickly with pneumonia. Now, three and a half years later, he is a robust and healthy young pig!

Today, Gerry enjoys creating paintings, which Peter sells to help to raise funds for the facility where he lives which also cares for injured wildlife. Gerry also has a very dear long-distance girlfriend who lives at a sanctuary in South Africa. Her name is Pigcasso. She is the original painting piggy, and is known worldwide for her work. Pigcasso was rescued from a slaughterhouse about three years ago, and has been painting ever since. Gerry and Pigcasso text each other every week or so through their guardians, and he sends her bags of caramel popcorn every couple of months, which he was told is her favorite snack!

Since Gerry became part of Peter’s family, Peter has immersed himself in all things pigs. He volunteers at Ross Mill Farms, which is one of the largest pig rescues and re-adoption farms in the New Jersey, and tirelessly lobbies to ease the abuse, pain, and fear of pigs who are suffering horribly in meat farms.

Right now, Peter and Gerry need your help to move forward two twin bills in New Jersey — Senate Bill 161, and Assembly Bill 3752 — which have the power to ban cruel gestation crates in pig farms state-wide. Only one of these bills needs to pass both sides of the government in order for Governor Murphy to sign it into law.

The problem is that both of these bills have been gathering dust in committees, and they’ll stay there until they die unless compassionate animal advocates are willing to pick up the phone and send our letter to urge that these bills be prioritized and acted on!

Peter has been calling non-stop of behalf of Gerry and thousands of suffering pigs, but he can’t do this alone…please help!
