WATCH: Message of Mercy To King Charles Delivered
Ahead of the coronation of His Royal Highness King Charles II, we have delivered 11,986 signatures to Buckingham Palace from concerned supporters like you, and Harry Potter actress, Evanna Lynch. We are seeking a "royal pardon" for 200 cows, 140 pigs, and 1,000 chickens, whose bodies and secretions are sold to tourists.
Animals have been farmed by the British monarchy for years. Pigs, chickens, and cows kept on the Royal Estate are killed for their flesh and fed to visitors of the Windsor Farm Shop. This is an unacceptable situation. All animals deserve to live a happy and healthy life, free from harm and exploitation.
King Charles has already made great strides in advancing animal rights. In November, 2022, he banned all royal residences from serving foie gras, a pâté made from the livers of confined, force-fed geese. The holy oil used in his coronation has been reformulated to be cruelty-free and is completely devoid of animal-derived ingredients. The vegan anointment is free of civet oil which is forcibly taken from the perianal glands of trapped wild civet cats, and ambergris, which is taken from whale intestines.
Sending the late Queen Elizabeth II’s animals to a sanctuary is the next logical step, and an opportunity for King Charles to show he is serious about ending pollution, species extinction, and the climate crisis which is driven by animal agriculture. Transitioning the royal farm into a sanctuary is essential for climate justice, animal rights, and saving species from extinction.
Thousands of people rallied to sign our action alert to let the royal animals live out the rest of their lives in peace and tranquility. We're happy to report that we delivered all the signatures to Buckingham Palace, along with a heartfelt message from In Defense of Animals supporters. We hope it will encourage the king to make the compassionate choice and do the right thing for animals and the environment.
Thank you to everyone who signed and shared our action alert. Together, we can make a difference for these gentle creatures and show that their lives matter too.
