A New York City man is facing multiple charges after throwing a new friend's beloved dog Kith off a 14th-story balcony to his death. Demand maximum sentencing in this case!
Early in the morning on November 1, 2024, Luis Gabriel Santamaria came home and found Kith lying on the sidewalk below his apartment after Alberto Morris — whom Luis had recently befriended — stole his keys, broke in, and threw Kith to his death following an altercation hours earlier at a Halloween party.

Santamaria had tried to rush home after realizing his keys had been taken, but he was tragically too late and continues to suffer from the traumatic loss of his best friend.

Letter to Decision Maker(s) for reference:
Subject: Maximum Sentence for Man Who Threw Dog From Balcony
I am writing to you in support of the expedient and strong prosecution of Alberto Morris, who is facing multiple charges for callously throwing Kith, a beloved dog belonging to Luis Santamaria, to his death from a 14th-floor balcony in Crown Heights in November.
This ruthless crime must be taken seriously by the court system, and Morris held accountable for the harm he caused by facing the maximum sentencing available on all charges – not only to bring a small measure of justice to the victims in this case, but to send a message that crimes of this nature will not be tolerated by a civil society.
I will be following this case to its fruition and expect that Morris will be incarcerated and mandated to participate in an alcohol, or mental health program and never to be allowed to be near animals again.
Thank you for your service to your jurisdiction. I ask that my letter be presented to the presiding judge during the sentencing phase of Morris’ trial.
Sincerely,
Signed
