Demand Justice for Dog Shot in Head with Crossbow

Read the update

A dog is lucky to be alive after somehow miraculously surviving being sadistically shot completely through the head with a crossbow in Florida. Authorities caught the person responsible and we’re demanding justice be served for this unbelievably callous act of cruelty.

In mid-May, Nassau County Animal Services sent an investigator to Hilliard after getting an emergency call about a dog who was seen with a 16-inch arrow through his head. The dog, who was nicknamed Unicorn, was located and taken for emergency veterinary treatment.

Days later, an anonymous tip led deputies from the Nassau County Sheriff’s office to the home of Carey Marie Wilson, who after lying, finally admitted to shooting the dog with a crossbow, claiming he had harassed her chickens.

Wilson was arrested and charged with intentional animal cruelty, which is third-degree felony. She’s now facing a fine up to $10,000, up to five years in jail, or both.

There’s no justification or excuse for Wilson’s depraved actions, and the court needs to send a strong message that cruelty to animals won’t be tolerated.
