Army veteran Marianna Rollins, and her boyfriend, Jarren Heng, of Fayetteville, North Carolina were arrested in mid April for the unbelievably callous execution of Marianna's faithful service dog, Cam. On May 7, 2017 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Marianna’s friends found her dead in her apartment, reportedly a suicide. While we feel for her friends and relatives, we must take action against Jarren for his betrayal of Cam. Speak up now to ensure this despicable act is punished to the fullest extent of the law.

On April 17, 2017, Marianna told her Facebook friends that Cam had a new home. She claimed she had placed him in a new home because he was too expensive to care for. The three videos the cruel couple took while killing Cam revealed the dark truth.

Marianna and Jarren took Cam into the woods, took photos with him, both while holding Coke and alcohol bottles, and then videoed as they tied him to a tree, taking turns shooting him with a rifle. Reportedly, Cam sat and turned his head from the rifle before the first of five shots was fired.

Marianna served in the Army from February of 2014 until she received a medical discharge in January of 2017. Jarren is a soldier in a unit that reports to the Army Special Operations Command.

Marinna got custody of Cam when her ex-husband, a serviceman in the army, learned he was destined for duty in South Korea. Mr. Rollins had adopted Cam from the Friends of the Cumberland County Animal Shelter in December of 2015. Cam was then Huey, the name Mr. Rollins kept. The two had been inseparable pals.

Serviceman Rollins reportedly was a caring guardian. He gravely regrets allowing Marianna to have Huey. Marianna changed Huey's name to Camboui, later shortened to Cam, and registered him as a therapy dog for her “PTSD."

According to arrest documents, Rollins and Heng were charged with cruelty to animals and conspiracy. Arrest documents noted that Rollins attempted to elude arrest by Sheriff's Deputies. Marianna's bail was initially set at $10,000 and Jarren's at $5,000, but Assistant DA Reeves sought and received bail for each defendant of $25,000 before Cumberland District Court Judge Toni King.

Assistant DA Reeves presented that the couple could be heard laughing on the video while they killed Cam. He added that Cam was a therapy dog. Judge King agreed to the increase in bail "due to aggravating factors and the cruel nature of the case."

Cumberland County District Attorney Billy West said he couldn't talk much about the open case, but added, "We will work diligently to seek justice in this case. What we do know about the case is disturbing."

Please join us in supporting District Attorney Billy West in the prosecution of Jarren Heng, a heartless killer. The betrayal and callous slaying of Cam must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Please fill out the form on this page to take action.
