A Texas man has been charged with animal cruelty for allegedly brutally killing a cat and eating their intestines. Demand maximum sentencing in this case!

On July 17, 2024, the manager of The Junction Brunch House in El Paso called 911 after a customer informed him that a man was stabbing and eating a cat in the parking lot. Once the man left, employees placed the cat's remains in a plastic bag and placed the bag in a Dumpster.

When an officer from El Paso Animal Services Protection and police officers arrived, they found the cat's intestines in the parking lot, and after retrieving the body they found that the cat's head had been crushed and their body had been ripped open.

In Defense of Animals

Officers later found the offender after he was involved in a car accident. On July 18, Krystopher Nathan Torres was arrested after being released from a hospital and taken to the El Paso County Detention Facility for animal cruelty with a bond of $100,000.

He reportedly told officers he stomped on the cat's head and used a screwdriver he had stolen from a construction site to stab the cat and tear open their body, and admitted to biting the cat and eating their intestines.

Thankfully, a request to lower his bond was denied on July 20.

Letter to Decision Maker(s) for reference:

Subject: Maximum Sentencing for Man Who Brutally Stabbed and Ate Cat

I’m writing to you in support of the prosecution and immediate mental health evaluation and treatment of Krystopher Nathan Torres, who was arrested for stomping on, stabbing, and eating a cat he encountered in the parking lot of The Junction Brunch House on July 17, 2024.

I’m pleased to learn his request for bond reduction was denied, and I urge your office to pursue this case to the fullest extent. This bizarre and unprovoked account of animal cruelty must be taken seriously and Torres, who was also arrested for suspicion of auto theft, must be held accountable. He should receive maximum penalties, be mandated to psychiatric counseling and be banned from being around animals for life.

I will be following this case to its fruition and I sincerely hope that justice is served for this innocent cat who suffered fear and agony and that the community be kept safe from further harm. Please see that the presiding judge sees my letter during the sentencing phase of these proceedings.

Sincerely,

Signed
