Woman Sets Raccoon on Fire, Gets No Jail; Admonish the Judge!

This alert is no longer active, but here for reference. Animals still need your help.

A heartless Florida woman was found guilty of setting an innocent raccoon trapped in a Dumpster on fire and killing the unfortunate animal. She was sentenced in December but completely escaped a potential five-year prison sentence, which is an outrage. Tell the judge that she made a horrible mistake and that the woman should have received jail time in addition to other penalties.

In Defense of Animals

In August 2022, Alicia Kincheloe recorded a video of a live raccoon in a Dumpster. Instead of trying to help the animal get out, or at the very least, just leave the raccoon alone, she said ignorant things such as accusing the raccoon of probably having rabies and then stood by while her father Roddy viciously stabbed the raccoon with a pitchfork.

They then callously left for lunch and when they returned to find the raccoon was still alive despite having been stabbed, Roddy told Alicia to get a gas can from his truck. She poured gas on the raccoon and Roddy set the helpless animal on fire. Afterward, she shared footage of the remains on Snapchat and can be heard saying, "We just toasted his ass, who's hungry?"

The footage went viral, and thanks to the sincere efforts of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, both Alicia and her father were arrested on animal cruelty charges, while Alicia faced an additional charge of tampering with evidence for attempting to hide the body.

On December 19, 2023, Alicia was sentenced by Florida Circuit Court Judge Donna Padar to no jail time at all, only two years of community control, followed by three years of probation. She must complete 45 days of the work-offender program and enroll in the Thinking for a Change course and an anger management course within 30 days. She also has to get a mental health evaluation, perform 100 hours of community service, and has to surrender her animal companions. She will not be allowed to have any going forward. Somehow, her relationship with her children is unchanged, even though she has shown herself to be utterly heartless.

While she may have to serve some jail time if she fails to meet these stipulations as we can only hope, she avoided a potential five-year jail sentence for her crime, which is infuriating.

Roddy Kincheloe's case (2022 CF 009478 NC) is still ongoing with a jury trial set for January 16.
